Summer Activity Day Report – Lower Horsebridge Recreation Ground

Well, what a fantastic day we had on Wednesday 30th July! We believe it was our busiest activity day yet, with a great turnout from the community. The whole event ran smoothly, and thankfully the rain stayed away, which was a welcome bonus.

The bungee trampoline was extremely popular, and, due to its success, we’ve already decided to book it again for our next event in August.

We were really pleased to welcome both East Sussex Fire & Rescue and Sussex Police, who attended to engage with families and allow children to explore the vehicles and equipment.

Hellingly Rugby Club, Cycle Speedway and Youth Club were also in attendance, offering demonstrations and opportunities for children to get involved and learn more about their clubs.

Freedom Leisure joined us with a fantastic selection of active play items for the kids to enjoy, and we also had a brilliant range of inflatables – including a penalty shoot-out, giant inflatable darts, and a dedicated toddler inflatable area for the little ones.

Our groundsmen Andy, Tim and Billy ran a cornhole activity, which was a real hit with the children. They were also a vital part of the event set-up and take-down – we really needed them there, and their help was hugely appreciated!

We also had a great selection of independent toy and games stalls, one of whom gave us some lovely feedback (included below).

DJ Cas kept the atmosphere lively with music throughout the day, and Jan did a brilliant job keeping everyone refreshed with teas, coffees, and ice pops.

The tattoo station and craft corner were constantly busy, with Chloe and Jane (craft fairy) doing a fantastic job – they didn’t stop all day!

Thank you also to Chris Jackets and Frankie for volunteering their time to support the event.
