Hellingly Country Park and Play Areas

Hellingly Country Park

Home to Hailsham Cricket Club, where you can watch a game on match days. The park includes two ponds (fishing permitted at the top pond with a licence), play areas for all ages, and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) for ball games.

We have two play areas – one designed for younger children and the other suitable for all ages. Each has picnic benches so you can bring food and enjoy the day. There are also plenty of open spaces for a kick-about, riding scooters, or cycling.

At the Cricket Pavilion you’ll also find The Cricketers Café, run by Tracy, serving a range of refreshments and sandwiches. The café is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am – 5.30pm. For more information, click the logo below to visit her Facebook page.

A white goose stands by a park bench near a pond, with swans swimming in the background. A tiered tray of desserts sits nearby.

There is ample parking at the Community Hub, including plenty of disabled parking spaces and car charging ports. Toilets (including accessible toilets) are also available at the Hub.

Hellingly Community Hub Grounds

A play area for younger children and benches for picnics. When the Community Hub is open, its facilities may also be used.

The Parish Council has recently taken over responsibility for part of Burfield Grange. There are two play areas designed for all ages.

  • At the front of the development, new toddler-friendly equipment has been installed, including a small climbing unit, swings, and a turtle rocker.

  • Further into Burfield Grange, there is a small play park with a climbing frame, basket swing, balance beam, and basket spinner.

Home to Hellingly Bowls Club, Hellingly Cricket Club, Hellingly Rugby Club and Hellingly HoundDogs American Football Club. It has an enclosed play area for children and a large open space for informal play when the sports clubs are not using the grounds.

Home to The Lions Speedway Club and the oldest Cycle Speedway Team in the country. The grounds also have a small children’s play area.

Other Spaces

  • Peake Gardens: a piece of land on the A271 in Horsebridge, owned by the Council and now maintained by Hellingly Scouts.

  • Over the next 12–24 months, more public open spaces will be transferred to the Parish Council by developers.

Play Area Safety
All our play areas are inspected annually by RoSPA and checked daily by our Grounds Team.

Fishing at Hellingly Country Park
A fishing licence is required to fish in the ponds. Licences can be purchased at the Post Office or online at www.gov.uk/fishing-licences/buy-a-fishing-licence. These ponds are classed as ‘enclosed water’, so the closed season does not apply.

We hope you enjoy our wonderful facilities and the chance to spend time outdoors with family and friends.
