Community Orchard: A Blooming Success!

/by

A group of people standing in a field, holding shovels and wearing casual outdoor clothing. The setting is a natural landscape with trees in the background, and the sky is partly cloudy.

On Friday, 7th March, we had a fantastic turnout for our Community Orchard planting day. Volunteers gathered in the sunshine to help plant 30 trees, generously provided through a grant from Wealden District Council.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, the orchard is now taking root, and we invite everyone to visit at any time to see its progress. For those interested, we have a map and a list of the trees available below.

As a special tribute, we have dedicated our Victoria Plum tree to the late Councillor Steve Gander, who sadly passed away on 28th January. This tree will stand as a lasting reminder of his contributions and the love he had for our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in making this project a success! We’d also like to extend our gratitude to The Cricketers Café for providing some well-earned refreshments to keep our volunteers going.

We look forward to watching the orchard grow and flourish in the years to come.
